Having formed a single information space uniting all countries of the world, the Internet has become a shared value of human civilization. It has made various cultural and social platforms, as well as artistic works, accessible to the general reader. 

Nevertheless, there is a widespread opinion that the “gap” between authors and readers has not yet been fully bridged. Therefore, it seems to me, we should think about which literary works the modern reader needs and how an author can bring his or her texts out to readers. 

Obviously, readers’ tastes change with the zeitgeist and as a result of the individual characteristics of the particular audiences. I believe that a society that seeks to adapt to these changes needs new literature, new language, new ways of looking at things. Experiments with genre and content have recently begun to appear quite often. They orient themselves toward the worldview of the modern reader, to the tastes of a particular readership. But in order to establish a close contact with the reader, it is necessary to take into account such factors as the society, the environment that surrounds them, the current vocabulary and the cultural processes in general. For example, there are currently very few contemporary characters and stories about the present-day society in our literature . I think this is the reason why many texts often fail to find their readers. 

At the same time, the book trade and literary translations have not lost their importance.  It is good that the number of original books and translated editions in Kazakh takes more and more space in bookstores. However, if you compare it to the offer in Russian, there are still far fewer books in Kazakh. I believe that we should not only invest more seriously in translating world literature into the Kazakh language, but also actively translate works of Kazakh writers into foreign languages in order to familiarize a wider audience with them. 

This is not my opinion as a Kazakhstani writer, but rather as a reader.
