Nuraiym Kossybak
Nuraiym Kossybak is a senior student at Nazarbayev University, majoring in World Languages, Literature and Culture. In addition to studying literature, Nuraiym started her own creative journey as a writer and a poet after taking creative writing courses at NU. For her, creative writing offers a new way of seeing life; more specifically, it’s a way of looking at language itself. At NU, Nuraiym has worked as a student contributor to Angime Journal, translating poetry from English into Kazakh. As a speaker of English, Kazakh, Russian, Turkish and Mandarin, Nuraiym believes that speaking different languages is a way to get to know the different personalities that inhabit your Self. Her latest work, the translation of a short story called "Арқаның әңгімесі" by Gabit Mussirepov from Kazakh into English, Turkish and Russian, reflects this idea of multiple languages and cultures blending into one. In the future, Nuraiym plans to pursue a Master's degree in the field of languages and literature, while continuing to explore her creativity through writing in different languages.
